2016 National Series Review by Greg Holden

1.  After coming 3rd in 2015, the Waterford TC men's team came 10th in the 2016 Triathlon Ireland Vodafone Club series. If there are any men & women committed to the 2017 National Series it would be great to get an indicator of numbers. 6 required in men's and 6 in women's. 3 of each for a Mixed team. Four races to be completed. 1x standard distance, 1x Sprint Distance and any two other.

2.  Kieran Jackson won the TI Category 1 Super Series Race at Pulse Port Beach. A great achievement. A proud day for the club also.

3.  Eoin Lyons came 3rd overall in the Super Series.

4.  Kieran Jackson came 7th overall in the Super Series even without completing the mandatory number of 4 races.

5.  Well done to our top AG Triathlete for 2016, John Hayden who came 4th in his AG and 18th overall in the Vodafone National Series. This probably secures his entry to the 2017 Cat 1 Super Series along with Kieran & Eoin. We will miss him from the Club Series!!

6.  Notable Mentions for:

Bernard Keane who in the National Series came 7th in his AG and 22nd overall (even though he beats up his own clubmates in the swim leg regularly!).
Elaine Mullen & Fiona Holland who podiumed in the Women's NatSeries Race in Fethard, Can we get a women's or mixed Club series team for 2017?
Peter Barry for securing the points required at the last race of the season which helped WTC leap frog Kilkenny TC in the Club series. Surely another own goal scored by Peter!!
And to Shane Scadding and John Hayden with AG podium finishes in National Championship races
